Instead of getting angry, he and his grandmother spent Saturday fixing taillights for people who couldn’t afford it. Today, they helped sixty-four drivers. This is what community looks like.

She had not named Craig.

She had not insulted the sheriff’s department.

She had not called anyone corrupt.

She had simply shown what happened.

The video had already been shared hundreds of times.

The comments were filling up.

A woman wrote that she had been putting off replacing her brake light because she was trying to choose between car repairs and groceries.

A retired teacher said she had driven to the church after hearing about the project and wished she had brought her own tools.

Someone from a neighboring town offered to organize a similar event.

Then Tyler found Walt’s comment.

That young man treated me with respect when I needed help. The deputy is his step-grandfather. Or stepfather? Either way, this looks personal.

Within minutes, people were asking questions.

Some defended Craig, saying officers had a difficult job and had to enforce the law.

Others said the tow seemed excessive.

A few went too far, making accusations that nobody could prove.

I told Tyler not to respond to any of it.

“Don’t argue with strangers on the internet,” I said. “You can’t control what they believe.
